Sculptor Hazel Hanna Alexander was born into a Jewish family in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1912. She studied briefly in her youth, then later, as a mature student at the Camden Art Institute, London and lived and worked in London throughout her career. Most of her sculptures are figurative, executed in a naturalistic manner and cast in bronze, and are related to Judaism and Hassidism. She exhibited at the Ben Uri Art Society and at other galleries in London and Israel. Hazel Alexander died in London, England on 22 December 1999. Her work is represented in the Ben Uri Collection. Her daughter is the artist Naomi Alexander.
