Research Unit: Lecture series

'Immigrants and their Art'

We remain excited to continue this revealing series of events, discussions, lectures and tours through 2023. These evenings tell and explore the stories of famous, and in many cases just as important but now reputation neglected, artists' and dealers’ journeys to this country. The purpose is to share much that is not widely known about their lives and migration’s impact on their art and consequently their artistic impact on others. Within this envelope we often openly address politically sensitive issues such as ‘Law and Order’ illustrated and disseminated through the artists’ eye and practice. This important series reflects the principal focus of the Ben Uri Research Unit being the Jewish and immigrant contribution to British visual culture since 1900 and is available through live at the Gallery, live on zoom with recordings on Ben Uri TV and on Ben Uri podcasts all through benuri.org
